Benny Murphy

Benny Murphy, 77, of Beech Creek, WV passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 at the Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, KY.  Born May 11, 1944 at O’Keefe, WV, he was the son of the late William Joe and Audrey Simpkins Murphy. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Josie Goad, Mary Benns, and Jan Duez, and 2 brothers, Wilson “Bud” Murphy and James Murphy. 

Benny was a retired coal miner and a member of the Devon Church of Christ.  He loved raising a garden and fishing.  One of his biggest joys was taking vegetables from his garden and fish that he had caught to the elderly on Beech Creek.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Hatfield Murphy of Beech Creek, WV, 1 daughter, Sherry (Greg) Dotson of Beech Creek, WV, 1 son, Jonathan (Amanda) Estepp of Delbarton, WV, 2 brothers, Joey Murphy of Itman, WV and Bruce Murphy of Beech Creek, WV, 2 sisters, Martha Spires of Hoboken, GA and Betty Kane of Beech Creek, WV, his grandchildren, Connor Dotson, Baylee Estepp, and Jacob Estepp, his best friend, Roger Hardesty of Mate Creek, WV, his fur baby, Gizmo, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. 

In honoring Benny’s wishes, cremation will take place. A simple memorial and burial of his cremains will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Simpkins Cemetery on the Right Hand Fork of Beech Creek with Bro. Travis Simpkins speaking.
