Betty Faye (Hamby) Smith

Betty Faye Smith, 89, of Ransom, KY passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY.  Born April 21, 1934 in Deer Lodge, TN, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Jason Hamby and the late Edna Jones Varney. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer Smith, and 2 brothers, Arnold and Donald Hamby. 

A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Betty is survived by her children, David (Jenny) Varney of Cookeville, TN, Kitty (Danny) Whitt of Pikeville, TN, Michael (Debbie) Smith of Pikeville, KY, Beverly (Harold) Curtis of LaBelle, FL, Terry (Jodie) Smith of Fort Myers, FL, Steven (Sonia) Smith of Lenore, WV, and Jason (Diane) Smith of Jeffersonville, IN.  Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. A special thanks to her dear friends and neighbors, James Stanley, Jeff Stanley, and Gennis Smith. 

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 3:30 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Mike Stanley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Alley Cemetery at McCarr, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
