Billy G. “Bill Buck” Buchanan, 75, of Ransom, KY passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021 at his home. Born January 15, 1946 at Sidney, KY, he was the son of the late Oscar and Flora Stepp Buchanan.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Tandy Buchanan and his sister, Anna Lois Buchanan Davidson.
Bill was a graduate of the Belfry High School Class of 1965. Following graduation, he attended vocational school and received a certificate in welding. He retired from Eastern Coal Company where he did electrical work. Bill was a member of the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church where he attended when his health allowed. He was a member of the UMWA and a member of Stone Lodge #890 F&AM. An avid outdoorsman, Bill loved hunting especially with beagles.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Brenda Smith Buchanan of Ransom, KY, his children, Tabitha Buchanan Schlatter and her husband John Schlatter of Cookeville, TN, Candace Buchanan King and her husband Freddie King of Lawrenceburg, KY, and Bill “Bucky” Buchanan and his wife Alison Stephens Buchanan of Richmond, KY, 12 grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Robbie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at Ransom, KY with Bucky Buchanan, Cooper Buchanan, Aaron Deel, Jordan King, Josh King, and Matt King serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be JC King.
The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am Saturday at the funeral home.
Due to Covid19, anyone attending who has not been fully vaccinated must wear a mask or facial covering.
