Bobby Gene Pennington

Bobby Gene Pennington, 67, of Goodman Hollow; Williamson, WV departed this life on Friday, September 18, 2020.  He was born September 13, 1953 to the late James and Margie Stapleton Pennington at Goodman Hollow.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by sisters, Florence Swafford, Mary Maynard, and Kate Smith; brothers, Paul, John, George, and Earl Pennington; his mother-in-law, Hazel Simmonson; and his father-in-law, Earl Sweeney.

Bobby was a disabled coalminer with a kind soul who was always helping others in need.  He was a member of the River Ministries Church on Vinson Street in Williamson.  He loved to garden and had the greenest thumb.  He could plant a tree branch and it would grow to be an amazing tree.  Spending time with his family was an ultimate joy, for family meant everything to him.

Bobby is survived by the love of his life, Dolly Sweeney Pennington of the home.  He is also survived by his children, Bobby and wife Crystal Pennington of Dan’s Branch, James and wife Vinia Pennington of Goodman Hollow, and Eric Pennington of the home; his grandkids, Bobby (BJ) Pennington, Hailee and husband Anthony Looney, James and wife Kiana Pennington, Brianna Pennington, Alexis Pennington, Madison Pennington, and Jacob Johnson; a great-grandchild, Serenity Looney; his siblings, Margaret Pennington, Joann Turney, James “Jr” and wife Cathy Pennington, brother-in-law, Tommy Sweeney; and a sister-in-law whom he loved as a sister, Delana Canterbury and family.  Also surviving is a several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 21, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the River Ministries Church on Vinson Street in Williamson, WV with Jonathan Robinette, Danny Swafford, and Donnie Blankenship officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV with BJ Pennington, James Pennington, Eric Pennington, Tommy Sweeney, Matt Brewer, Timmy Canterbury, James Bub Pennington, and Grayson Sweeney serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00-6:00 pm for family and after 6:00 pm for friends at the River Ministries Church in Williamson, WV.
