Brenda Sue (Billiter) Maynard

Brenda Sue (Billiter) Maynard, age 80 of Sidney, KY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.  She passed away following a brief illness at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY.  Brenda was born on March 4, 1943 in South Williamson, K to the late Jonah and Ella (Blackburn) Billiter. 

She was a Christian and a member of the Sharondale Church of Christ.  Brenda loved going to church and reading her Bible. 

Brenda loved people.  She was a true social butterfly and rarely met a stranger.  Her jovial spirit and sense of humor was admired by all who knew and loved her.  She looked forward to Saturday evenings when she would meet with her friends for karaoke.  She went to socialize and really enjoyed her time with them. 

She was a superb cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family.  One of her specialties was Lemon Jell-O Cake.  Her grandchildren would tell you it was her “apple toast” which she happily made when they visited. 

For more than 25 years, Brenda worked as Title Clerk at Moore Chevrolet in Williamson, WV.  She worked prior to this in banking.  Her work ethic was unmatched and she worked until she was well into her 70’s. 

Brenda would tell you her most precious role in life was that of mother.  She loved her children fiercely and had close, cherished relationships with all three of them.  Brenda especially enjoyed being a “Granny” and her eyes lit up with joy anytime she was able to spend time with her grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by two sisters, Claudia (Billiter) Clay and Marrietta (Billiter) Coleman, as well as two brothers, James “Jim” Billiter and Bob Billiter.  Left to cherish her memory are her children, John (Jill) Maynard, Michael (Kecia) Maynard, and Melinda (Shannon) Thompson, as well as granddaughters, Madelyn Maynard, Mikah Maynard, and grandson, Michael Shawn Maynard all of Sidney, KY.  She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, a special cousin, Deeanna McGuire, her best friend of more than 50 years, Polly Arnold, and very special friends, Sharon Thompson and Shirley York. 

A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Belfry, KY with Bro. Bob Werntz officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
