Charlene Moran

Charlene Moran, 83, of Sidney, KY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at the Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY with family by her side.  Charlene was born on August 21, 1937 in Pike County, KY, the daughter of the late Jonah and Octavia (Stepp) Baker.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gilford Moran.

She was a longtime member of The Bells of Joy United Baptist Church.  She loved her church Brothers and Sisters in Christ.  She was a dedicated prayer warrior.

Charlene (or as Cheyenne renamed her…MawMaw Shirlene!) is survived by one son Keith (Beverly Chapman) Burgess of Hardy, KY, one daughter Sharon (Chris) Varney of Sidney, KY, two brothers, Hayse (Wonnett) Baker of Science Hill, KY and Thomas (Nyoka) Baker of Canada, KY, her grandchildren, Summer (Adam) Gilman of TN, Solicity (Steven) Mounts of Hardy, KY, Shane (Amanda) Varney of South Williamson, KY, and Kellie (Enrico) Marino of South Williamson, KY.  MawMaw Shirlene is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Emma and Natalie Gilman, Olivia and Cole Mounts, and Cheyenne Varney.

She also leaves behind a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Dennis Smith Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in the Stepp Cemetery at Hatfield, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 am Saturday at the funeral home.

I want to thank my many brothers and sisters in Christ who helped me pray over the past 2 years and 8 months.  Thanks to the hospice organization and mom’s nurse, Betty Robinette.
