Chris “Bub” Colegrove, 40, of Williamson, WV left this world too soon on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at his residence. Born September 12, 1984 in Logan, WV, he was the son of Barbara Colegrove Marcum.
Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Orville and Pearl Colegrove Jr., his special cousin, Danny Darrell “Pooh Bear” Colegrove, and an aunt, Sharon Colegrove.
Chris was a 2002 graduate of Tug Valley High School. Around the age of 16 he started working outside around coal mines. Since the age of 18 he has worked underground, and currently worked for Coronado Steel at the Lower War Eagle Mine in Man, WV. He loved listening to Keith Whitley music, fishing, Busch Light beer, watching football, and his boys.
Survivors include his mommy who loves him so much and stepfather, Barbara and Eric “Old Man” Marcum of Seneca, SC, his dad who raised him, Dorian Murphy of South Williamson, KY, his two precious boys who he loved more than anything, Blake Colegrove and Brody Colegrove both of Williamson, WV, his two beautiful sisters, Crystal (Jr) Perry and Elaine (Chad) Miles, his fiancée, Bethany Maynard, his uncle, Danny (Missy) Colegrove, his nieces, Jayden Marcum, Kaley Cearley, Kara-Ann Preece, and his special little girl, Darielle Miles, his nephews, Princeton “Shaggy” Preece, Landon Colegrove, Dawson Perry, and Hayden Ball, two boys he loved dearly, Rilee White and Jarron Holyfield, and a special little girl Gabby Maynard and her brother Ryan Maynard, a host of cousins, other family, friends, and all of his coal mining buddies. He also loved his little dog, Lilly.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday evening at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY where services will be held at 7:00 pm with Tommy Canterbury speaking.
