Clarence McCoy, 92, of Hardy, KY passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 at the Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, KY. Born October 13, 1927 at Toler, KY, he was the son of the late Helix and Marinda Stanley McCoy.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 64 years, Wilma Juanita McCoy, on October 22, 2019; two brothers, Jack McCoy and Ernest McCoy, and five sisters, Bertha, Hazel, Gracie, Maggie, and Ortha Mae.
Clarence served his country as a member of the U.S. Army being stationed in Germany during post WWII and the Korean Conflict. Clarence was a jack of all trades. Well known for his sense of humor and outgoing personality, Clarence also was known for his work ethic, dependability, and honesty. During his life he worked in many capacities including being a driver and dispatcher for Greyhound Bus Lines, working for Metropolitan Insurance Company, being an office clerk and purchaser for Mary Helen Coal Company, and the last 20 plus years before his retirement as a carpenter. He was an avid reader and he was extremely knowledgeable of area history and genealogy. He always had a neat yard and beautiful garden, from which many people would enjoy in the bounty of his green thumb and hard work. It was a common sight to see him out on his John Deere tractor working at something.
Survivors include his son Clarence "Chip" (Joyce) McCoy Jr. of Sidney, KY; two grandchildren, Mary LeeAnn (Steven) Hall of Jackson, KY and Andrew Joseph McCoy of Sidney, KY, two sisters, Virginia Ruth Pinson of Indialantic, FL and Elmo Francis Allred of Maysville, KY, a half brother, Tom McCoy of Louisiana, a half sister, Molly Andrews of Louisiana, and a host of nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
