Clyde Herbert Dotson, 74, of McCarr, KY passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born November 21, 1946 at Blackberry, KY, he was the son of the late George Walker Dotson and the late Anna Bernice Garland Dotson.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Charles Admiral Dotson, Lois Jean Dotson, Ray Leon (Lois) Dotson, Donald Hugh Dotson, Susie Dotson (Ron) Mendell, and George Walker “GW” Dotson Jr., a granddaughter, Kerrigan Whitley Dotson, and his father-in-law, Earsel Hatfield.
Clyde was a 1964 graduate of Belfry High School. He went on to obtain his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Eastern Kentucky University from which he held a Masters degree in counseling. He worked for a time as a teacher at Belfry High School and for many years as a coal operator.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Hatfield Dotson of McCarr, KY, his children, Clyde Herbert “Herbie” (Angela Lynn) Dotson II of Hardy, KY, Claude Hobert “Hobie” Dotson II of Lexington, KY, and Anna O’Quinn (Bryan) Ehret of Crestwood, KY, the mother of his children, Margaret Dotson Hult of Hardy, KY, his siblings, Edna Fern (Joe) Taylor of Lexington, KY, Claude Hobert (Brenda) Dotson of Forest Hills, KY, and Brenda Gail (Fred) Alley of Myrtle Beach, SC, his grandchildren, Preston Tyler Dotson, Luke Evan Dotson, Dylan Cole Ehret, Addison Whitley Ehret, Madison Olivia Dotson, and Mason Jonah Dotson, step-grandson, Dustin Allen (Sarah) Ray and their children. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Donna Ruth Smith Hatfield of Phelps, KY, his sisters-in-law, Joann Dotson, Jeannie Lauyans, Margaret Scott Dotson, Madonna Francis Hatfield (Rodney Whetstone), Patricia Elizabeth (Brad) Tibbs, and Barbara Sue (Milford) Compton, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
