Curtis Hatfield

Curtis Hatfield, 84, of Ransom, KY passed away Monday; September 22, 2025 at his home.  Born October 2, 1940 at Ransom, KY, he was the son of the late Perry and Cosby Coleman Hatfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his beloved wife of 61 years, Chelsea Hatfield; his son, Tony Curtis Hatfield; and all 13 of his brothers and sisters, Ted (Lois) Hatfield, Ance (Glena) Hatfield, Raymond Hatfield, Bud (Lou) Hatfield, Myrtle (George) Dotson, Mag (Frank) Caldwell, Jo (John) Sullivan, Gladys (Wes) Slone, J.P. (Glen) Dotson, and Easter (Warn) Stiltner. 

Curtis was a retired coal miner.

He leaves behind his son, Perry Hatfield, his daughter, Malinda Ford, a special granddaughter, Kaitlin “Bird” Ford, one great-granddaughter, Bailey Ann “Little Bird” Ford.  A special friend, Richard Thomas, and special thanks to the friends that came by, those who brought food or said prayers, or offered support through it all including Darryl Dotson, George Dotson, Jesse Hager, Kathy Howell and her husband, Mike Dotson, Audie Friloux, Billy Slone, Donnie McIntosh, and Darryl Maynard.  Also, thank you to all those that couldn’t come by but prayed.  Please continue to pray for our family.

Thank you to Bluegrass Hospice and special thanks to Tiffany, Mabel, Santana, Makennan, Faith, Keisha, and Andrea for their compassion and for going above and beyond what they had to.  Also to the doctors and the ones that answered their phones when needed.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at 12:00 pm at the Hatfield Family Cemetery at Ransom, KY with Mike Dotson speaking.  Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
