David Lynn Yates, 72, of Williamson, WV passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at the Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, KY. Born June 21, 1948 in Williamson, WV, he was the son of the late Bertral “Bert” and Athalie Sparks Yates.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, BJ Yates as well as many aunts and uncles.
David was a graduate of Williamson High School and retired from the former Thompson Pontiac-Buick-GMC where he worked in the parts department. He attended Zebulon Grace Church and was saved by the marvelous sovereign grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Dessie Sue Yates, his son, David Benjamin (Lisa) Yates, stepson, Dr. Brian (Allison) Francis, stepdaughter, Rebecca Ann (Neil) Warren, grandsons, Zander yates, Ethan Francis, Mattox Francis, Caleb Sackmann, and Conner Sackman, granddaughters, Zoe Yates and Larissa Francis, stepgrandchildren, Adam (Jenna) Warren and Aaron Warren, one brother, Mark Yates, two sisters, Sharon Yates (Jim) Jones and Susan Dare, his brothers-in-law, Clinton Russell (Mildred) Ooten, Christopher C. Ooten, Graydon (Sharon) Ooten Jr., Gregory Ooten, and Lawrence Ooten, a special nephew, Christopher Thomas Ooten, nieces, Krystin Yates Castle, Sabrina Yates-Doll, and Sarah Dare, nephews, Jim Dare and Thomas Dare, aunts, Mary Hardin and Frances “Tune” Lambert, an uncle, Ken (Patty) Yates, and a host of cousins and many more friends and family.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 3, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Pastor Tom Harding officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY. Active pallbearers will be Ethan Francis, Caleb Sackmann, Conner Sackmann, Jacob Stafford, Jonathan Yates, and Neil Warren. Honorary pallbearer will be Mattox Francis.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
In accordance with state COVID19 mandates, all visitors are asked to please wear a mask and observe social distancing guidelines.
