Denny Ray Marcum, 74, of Hatfield, KY left this world to be in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from the Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, KY. Born August 30, 1946 in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late Gabe and Josie Mae Jones Marcum.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel Marcum, and by a brother, Landon Hayse Marcum.
Denny Ray was a member of the Nolan Freewill Baptist Church. He worked for Island Creek Coal Company and served as president and organizer of the local United Mine Workers of America.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rebecca Jane Marcum of Hatfield, KY, his children, Timothy Ray Marcum (Brenda Ray) of Hatfield, KY, Jennifer Renae (Kelly) Dove of Hatfield, KY, and Denny Eric Marcum (Barbara Colegrove) of Seneca, SC; his grandchildren, Becky (Robert) Gile, Kevin (Brandy) Marcum, Keisha (Bryan) Goble, Kelli Beth (Nathanael) Browning, Shakila (Antoine) Parker, and Trystanei Cool, a host of great-grandchildren, his best fur buddy Roscoe, his sisters, Cathy (Donnie) Robinson, Ruby (Darrell) Clark, Mildred (Charles) Lively, and Gustie (Curtis) Smith, a brother, Harlan (Pat) Marcum, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Earl White and Bro. John Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Marcum Family Cemetery at Hatfield, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Saturday evening at the funeral home.
