Dolly Kay (Sweeney) Pennington

Dolly Kay Pennington, 60, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, of Goodman Hollow; Williamson, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, KY.  Born August 26, 1961 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Earl Sweeney and the late Hazel Rosetta “Granny” May Sweeney Simonson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Pennington, 4 brothers, Johnny, Steven, Grayson, and Earl Sweeney, and 1 sister, Margaret Sweeney.

Dolly was a homemaker and worked for several years in the housekeeping department at Williamson Memorial Hospital and for several years at Stewart’s Drive Inn.  She was a Christian and a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church. 

Survivors include her sons, Bobby (Crystal) Pennington of Dan’s Branch, James (Vinia) Pennington of Goodman Hollow, and Eric Pennington of Goodman Hollow, her Aunt Flora of Virginia, 1 brother, Thomas Sweeney of Fort Gay, WV, 3 sisters, Cathey (James Jr.) Pennington of Toler, KY, Linda (Pedro) Andrade of Orange County, CA, and Delana (Lloyd) Canterbury of Fort Gay, WV, her grandchildren, Hailee (Tommy) Looney, James Michael (Taylor) Pennington II, Jacob Lee Johnson, Bobby Martin Pennington Jr., Brianna Nicole Pennington, Alexis Paige Pennington, and Madison Paige Pennington, her great-grandchildren, Serenity Looney, Killian Pennington, Adaleigh Prater, Zoey Prater, and Baby Pennington.  Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Rev. Donnie Blankenship officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Due to Covid19, all attending are asked to wear a mask or facial covering at all times while inside.
