Freeman Eugene Hill, 88, of Red Jacket, WV passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY. Born November 9, 1934 in O’Keefe, WV, he was the son of the late Dennie and Allie Hill.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lea Hite Hill, his son Mike, his daughter Barbara, 2 infant children, sister Myrtle, brothers Estel, Ray, and Hansford, and a great-granddaughter Destiny Brewer.
He was a veteran having served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked as a coal miner and retired from the Kentucky Carbon Coal Corporation “Ken Car” at Phelps, KY. He was the kindest soul with the biggest heart!
Survivors include his sisters, Wanda Sue (Frank) Fitch, Ramona (Danny) Halley, and Shirley Klamecki, his brothers, Roosevelt Hill, Harold (Joan) Hill, and Bill (Marion) Hill, his grandchildren, Rose Ann (Matt) Eblen, Jeremy (Ashley) Hill, Lindsay Hill, Steve Randall Gooslin II, Matthew Gooslin, and Kyla Hill; 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Rev. Jarrod Belcher officiating. Military honors will be presented by the DAV Chapter 141 of Belfry, KY. Burial will follow in the Hill Family Cemetery on Grapevine Fork at Beech Creek, WV with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Saturday evening at the funeral home.
