Gary Linsey Slater, 66, of Hatfield, KY formerly of Turkey Creek, KY went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from his home following a short illness. Born November 6, 1958 in South Williamson, KY, he was the son of Fayetta Farley Slater of Turkey Creek, KY and the late Loyd Slater.
Gary was a former coal miner and a formerly owned/operated a mine contracting company. He was member and deacon of the Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his loving wife, Anita Carol Sartin Slater of Hatfield, KY, two daughters, Angie (Gary) Tester of Kodak, TN and Sandy Slater of Charleston, SC, three grandchildren, Aiden, Mark, and London Tester all of Kodak, TN, his siblings, Danny (Kim) Slater of Wyandotte, MI, Benny (Karen) Slater of Berea, KY, Donna (Dwayne) Marcum of Turkey Creek, KY, and Dean (Gail) Slater of Turkey Creek, KY. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowling-Curry Cemetery at Turkey Creek, KY with his grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6:00 pm Saturday evening at the Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church with services at 7:00 pm with Danny Slater officiating.
