Gayrean Swafford, 83, of White Pine, TN formerly of Buskirk, KY passed away Sunday; March 8, 2026. Born March 31, 1942 in Pike County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Leck and Alice Smith Adkins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Ward and Virgil Adkins; and a special daughter-in-law, Prima Dotson.
She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
Gayrean loved her children and grandchildren more than anything in this world. To those closest to her, she was a safe place, a listening ear, and source of comfort and love. Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her. Her laughter, feisty spirit, and love will live on in the hearts of her family forever.
Survivors include her children, Alice (Kevin) Ingersoll, with whom she made her home, of White Pine, TN, Timmy (Amy) Dotson of Buskirk, KY, William “Buddy” Dotson of Newtown, WV, Tammy (Billy) Scott of Red Jacket, WV, Andy Slone of Portsmouth, OH, and Pam (Johnny) Slone of Wheelersburg, OH; a brother, Eugene Adkins of Varney, WV; her grandchildren, Mikelle (Ricky) Vinson, Marissa Thompson (Tim), Kevin Ingersoll Jr., Gunner Ingersoll, T.J. (Makinlee) Dotson, Allison (T.J.) Murphy, Andrew Scott, Hannah (Cole) Dotson, Thursa Adams, Roxie Bowen, Brent (Kayla) Slone, Dakota Slone, Jeremiah Bishop, Tylan Bishop, Lyanna Slone, and Wesley Slone; her great grandchildren, Hazel and Kylee McBee, Nova and Tyson Vinson, Audriana Dotson, Atlas Lafferty, Little T.J. Murphy, Dixie and Colton Slone; and a special daughter-in-law, Earlene Adams. Also surviving is a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday; March 12, 2026 at 12:00 pm at the Faith Mission Church at McCarr, KY with Pastor Jimmy Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Buskirk Cemetery at Buskirk, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family will welcome friends beginning at 6:00 pm Wednesday at the Faith Mission Church where special services will be held at 7:00 pm.
