Gerald Garrett Ward, 70, of Williamson, WV passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born May 13, 1951 in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Trimble Ward Jr. and the late Stacia Galat Garrett.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Long, and two other siblings.
Gerald lived life to the fullest and always tried to look to the bright side of things. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Gerald was musically inclined and loved to play his guitar and sing. He enjoyed music from several different genres as long as it was “good music”. He loved working with his hands and could fix anything.
Gerald retired as a Court Marshall with the Mingo County Commission and he was of the Christian faith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Gladys Dibble Ward of Williamson, WV, two daughters, Stephany Ward Ellis of Hanover, WV and Jory Ward of Williamson, WV, his grandchildren, Devan Ellis, Destiny Ellis, and Daylee Ellis all of Hanover, WV, a great-grandson, Dawcyn Smith of Delbarton, WV, two sisters, Joanna Parada of Lake Havasu, AZ and Marcella Luckhardt of Williamsburg, MI. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Danny Scott officiating. In honoring Gerald’s wishes, cremation will follow.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
