Glendean Jablensky, 84, of Newtown, WV passed away Friday; June 5, 2026 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born July 28, 1941 in Mingo County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Della Carter Blankenship.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Teofil Jake Jablensky; brothers, Isom “Bouncer” Blankenship, Earl Blankenship, and Donnie; and sisters, Jean Berry, Linda Blankenship, Betty Sansom, Shirley Hurley, and Mildred Jones.
Glendean worked for several years as a cook and waitress at Snack Shack in Matewan, WV. A longtime Christian, she was a former member of the Sprigg Freewill Baptist Church and the Tug River Community Church. She currently was a member of the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Aileen Blankenship of Williamson, WV, Trish (Buddy) Terry of Williamson, WV, and Sharon (Dan) Janitor of Pennsylvania; a special granddaughter, Ashley Jablensky of Newtown, WV; granddaughter, Hollie Janitor; two sisters, Helen Blankenship of Gilbert, WV and Linda Carol (Billy) Hammond of South Carolina; special nieces, Alexis Moore and Nevaeh Hammond; special nephews, Eric, Landon, and Stevie Hammond; a special friend, Gaynell Varney; and a host of other friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday; June 12, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Lee Dotson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Sprigg Church/Hatfield Family Cemetery at Sprigg, WV with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service Friday at the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church.
