Glenn Matthew “Matt” Simpkins, 63, of Beech Creek, WV passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at his home. Born February 17, 1960 in South Williamson, KY, he was the son of Billie Jean (Blankenship) Simpkins and the late Matthew Neely Simpkins.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Chloe Blankenship and Alice Simpkins.
Matt was a former carpenter and auto body repairman. The most joy in his life was his grandkids. That’s when he was the happiest and always had the biggest smile on his face. Matt was the person everyone called when something was wrong or broken. He was Beech Creek’s jack of all trades. His laugh was contagious and his love for his family and friends was unmatched.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his children, Thomas (Kaitlyn) Simpkins, Nikki (TJ) Howard, and James (Christine) Simpkins & their children, his sisters and brothers, Nancy (Alvie) Pay, Chris (Terri) Simpkins, Tammy (Greg) Dillon, Tom (Michele) Simpkins, and Billie (Tim) West, his grandchildren – who were his pride and joy, Everleigh, Ellie, and Maylon, his special friends, Rob, Mick, Flea, and Ronnie, and a host of other family and friends.
In honoring Matt’s wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial gathering to inter his cremains will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Simpkins Cemetery on the Right Hand Fork of Beech Creek, WV.
