Gloria Bernice (Rice) Coleman, 76, of Matewan, WV passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, KY. Born November 13, 1944 at Matewan, WV, she was the daughter of the late James and Lou Minta Presley Rice.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Denise Coleman, a brother, James “Bruce” Rice, and a sister, Hattie Gail Poare.
Gloria was a homemaker. She was a babysitter for several years and a dedicated member of the New Vision Assembly of God Church at Matewan. She was a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years.
Survivors include her son, Tim (Hengela) Coleman of Beech Creek, WV, a sister, Emoline (John) Coleman of Sarah Ann, WV, her grandchildren, Christopher (Marie) Coleman, TJ (Allison) Murphy, and Jackie (Tracy) Church, her great-grandchildren, Alex, Hunter, Christopher Jr., and Gage Coleman, TJ Murphy II, Rylie, Wesley, and Haylie Church. Also surviving is a host of special nieces, nephews, friends, and a host of children she taught in Sunday School over the years that she thought of as her own.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Family Cemetery on the Right Hand Fork of Beech Creek, WV with Pastor Ron Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
