Gloria Anita Nelson Carden

Gloria Anita Nelson Carden, 76, of Toler, KY passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 at the Tug Valley ARH Skilled Nursing Facility in South Williamson, KY following a short illness.  Born May 7, 1947 in Sidney, KY, to the late Violet Rollason, but she was raised by her grandparents and an aunt and uncle, the late Fred and Iva Trent and Gilbert and Mary Bird. 

In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Leo G. Carden.

Anita done hair for many years at Anita’s Hair Palace in Toler, KY.  She was a member of the McVeigh Missionary Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her one son, Keith and his wife Sabrina Carden of Belo, WV, her grandchildren, Emmitt Carden of Belo, WV who was her pride and joy, Garret and Abbie Carden of Ransom, KY, and Jerry Workman of Belo, WV, her great grandson, Winston Carden, and her special cousin, Patty Wood of Hurricane, WV.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. 

The family would like to say Thank You to Anna Ward and the staff of the Tug Valley ARH Skilled Nursing Facility for taking such good care of Anita. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the McVeigh Missionary Baptist Church at Sharondale, KY with Pastor Paul David King officiating.  Cremation will take place after the funeral service. 

Visitation will be after 6:00 pm Thursday evening at the McVeigh Missionary Baptist Church.
