Goldie Ann Daniels Ray, 69, of Meador, WV passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, while inpatient at Baptist Health of Lexington, KY. Goldie was born on April 7, 1954. She was the daughter of the late Jessie Lee Daniels and Elizabeth Cisco Daniels.
In addition to her parents, Goldie is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Gary Michael (Mike) Ray who passed away on April 5, 2023, a brother Roger Lee Daniels, two infant sisters, Betty and Sue Daniels, sisters-in-law Dottie Daniels and Pam Daniels, and two brothers-in-law, Doug Kennedy and Bill Murphy.
In addition to being a homemaker, Goldie was the owner and operator of Goldie’s Hardware store for more than two decades. Goldie’s Hardware was featured on the show American Pickers in 2010. Goldie was a member of the Church of Christ.
Goldie is survived by her son Joseph Michael Ray and his wife Brittney Ray of Georgetown, KY, two grandsons who were her pride and joy, Asher Michael Ray and Axel Monroe Ray, 5 brothers, Rutherford Daniels, Tommy (Linda) Daniels, Phillip (Dianne) Daniels, and James (Marion) Daniels, all of Beech Creek, WV and Jessie Daniels of Matewan, WV, two sisters, Isabell Murphy and Rosetta Kennedy both of Beech Creek, WV, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Goldie was known for her humble heart, sweet personality, and loving hugs. She earned herself the nickname “Sunshine”, and rightfully so. Even through sickness and loss, she kept a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life. She will forever be missed and remembered by her family and friends.
Goldie's wishes were to be cremated and placed to rest beside her husband Mike. In honoring her wishes, a simple memorial service will be held Monday, September 4, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Cisco-Daniels Cemetery on Grapevine Fork at Beech Creek, WV.
