Gwendel "Gwen" (Hatfield) Johnson

Gwendel “Gwen” Johnson, 73, of Beech Creek, WV passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at her home.  Born November 18, 1950 at O’Keefe, WV, she was the daughter of the late Wayman and Winifred Goad Hatfield.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Willard Hatfield.

Gwen was a manager for 30 plus years at Montgomery Super Market.  She was a longtime member of the Devon Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Sonny Johnson of Beech Creek, WV, her daughter, Brenda of the home, a special friend whom she loved like her son-in-law, Bruce Gibson of Beech Creek, WV, special friends, Dorothy Blankenship and Maggie Lawson, and a host of other family and friends.  Also surviving is her buddy, Lil Bit.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Evangelist Gene Clemons officiating.  Burial will follow in the Wayman Hatfield Cemetery at Beech Creek, WV with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Friday evening at the funeral home with services at 7:00 pm.
