Hassel "Hass" Wolford

Hassel “Hass” Wolford, 69, of Phelps, KY passed away Friday, July 8, 2022 at his home following a lingering illness.  Born June 23, 1953 in Matewan, WV, he was the son of the late Hassel Wolford Sr. and the late Dorothy Wolford.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Annette Rayburn, Elaine Smith, and Tammy Thacker.

Hass was a retired coal miner with 41 years of service all of which were spent underground.  He was a member of the Church of Christ.  Hass loved to fish, hunt, and spend time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Colleen Mahon Wolford of Phelps, KY; a special niece and her husband who were like his own children, Tabitha and Darren Preece of Phelps, KY; two special grandchildren, Tyler and Donavon Preece of Phelps, KY; a sister, Betty Stump of Sevierville, TN; special friends, Eddie and Shirley Honaker, Bobby Wolford, and Donald Pruitt; 2 aunts, Betty "Sweetie" Wolford and Josephine Adams both of Ohio.  Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Marshall Daniels officiating.  Burial will follow in the Wolford Cemetery at Phelps, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Monday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.
