James Edward Miller Sr., born June 12, 1955, from Pikeville, KY has departed from this life on Friday, November 26, 2021 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.
James was an active social worker for Mountain Comprehensive Care, a previous coal truck driver, and a former member of the U.S. Army during the post Vietnam era.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie (Fannin) Quesenberry and a sister, Irene Smith who both were from Williamson, WV.
James was a loving husband, married to Eunice Renae “Nae” (Stell) Miller from Freeburn, KY for 24 years. James was a loving father to Christine, married to Stephen Bailey, from Kingston, TN, Rebecca Dillon from Williamson, WV, James E. Miller Jr. from Williamson, WV, and Michele, married to Terry Staten, from Williamson, WV. He was the proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren, Erika Preece, Heather Ventura, Candice Gilman, Hannah Bailey, Stephanie Bailey “Snoopy”, Caitlin Swiney “Sissy Bug”, Dakota Miller, Kacie Staten, Karissa Staten, and Nicholas Staten; proud great-grandfather to Aubree Preece, Conner Preece, Gavin Preece, Maya Ventura, Elaine Johnson, Maggie Johnson, and Benjamin Johnson.
James is survived by a brother, Richard (Maxine) Quesenberry of Silver Springs, FL, his in-laws, Melissa (Rob) Mount of Rushville, IN, Angela (the late Bruce) Wolford of Pikeville, KY, Charlie Stell and Samuel (Spreng) Stell of South Williamson, KY, Ethel Stell, Kayla (Dustin) Daniels, Shawn (Brittnay) Stell, Ryan Stell, and Johnny Stell of Freeburn, KY.
A memorial gathering and Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 6-9 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY.
