Janet Ivadean “Dean” Yates, 73, of Rawl, WV passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born July 6, 1951 at Blackberry, KY, she was the daughter of the late Virgis and Eva Joyce Scott Cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mary Alice Cook, a grandson, Brody Wright, brothers, Ricky, Ronnie, and David Cook, and sisters, Virginia Carol Browning Hensley and Elisha Russell.
Janet received her associates degree from Southern and worked for many years cleaning houses and retired while working at Smith Towers in Matewan, WV. She was a member of the Leckieville Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Yates of Rawl, WV, her children, Tracie (Dawayne) Meadows of Rawl, WV and Billy (Ronni) Wright of Missouri, 2 brothers, Timothy (Sharon) Cook of Louisa, KY and Christopher Cook of Stone, KY, her grandchildren, Shadava Price, Tiana (Jordan) Akins, Micayla (Blaine) McClung, Marissa (Zach) Roberts, Colton (Sarah) Wright, Faith Wright, Cylie Wright, and Noah Wright, 15 great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Pastor Lee Dotson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV with Timmy Cook, Benny Church, Jordan Akins, Zach Roberts, Colton Wright, and Blaine McClung serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
