Jerry Mar McCoy

Jerry Mar McCoy, 85, of Hardy, KY passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.  Born February 9, 1936 at Welch, WV, he was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy McCoy. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Dotson McCoy, a daughter, Dorothy McCoy, a son, Perry McCoy, brothers, Leander, Everett, and Archie McCoy, and sisters, Betty Shumate, Anna Mae Barrera, and Mary Belle Richardson. 

Jerry was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA.

Survivors include his children, Karen (Jeff Hamrick) Newsome of Sutton, WV, Robert McCoy of South Williamson, KY, Jerry McCoy Jr. of Hardy, KY, Michael McCoy of Brenton, WV, and Dale (Denise) McCoy of Augusta, WV, 2 grandchildren, Britany (Glen) Blevins of Hardy, KY and Jesse “Jay” Newsome of Hardy, KY, 2 great-grandchildren, Robert (Cassidy) Hendricks III and Jadah Hendricks both of Sutton, WV.  Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

In honoring Jerry’s wishes, cremation will take place.  A memorial service honoring Jerry's life will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Woodman Community Church at Woodman, KY.
