John Calvin Hanny, 82, of Hatfield, KY passed away Monday; November 17, 2025 at the Prestonsburg Healthcare Center in Prestonsburg, KY. Born November 10, 1943 in Port Clinton, OH, he was the son of the late Clayton and Margaret Shultz Hanny.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Chapman; and his father and mother-in-law, Curtis and Tootie Maynard.
John was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a former coal miner and attended the McVeigh Baptist Church when he was able. For several years he and his wife owned/operated Big Creek Pizza.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Faye Maynard Hanny of Hatfield, KY; his children, John Curtis (Kim) Hanny of Harrodsburg, KY, Mary Lisa (James) McCoy of Mount Sterling, KY, Margaret Ann (Phillip) Royce of Sidney, KY, James Clayton (Jackie) Hanny of Belfry, KY, and Joseph Christopher Hanny of Hatfield, KY; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, special nephews, William Chapman and Clayton Chapman; a sister, Susie of Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday; November 23, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Bro. Timmy Lucas officiating. Military honors will be presented by the DAV Chapter 141 of Belfry, KY following the service.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Saturday evening at the funeral home.
