Johnny “John Bear” Harrison, 64, of Hatfield, KY passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024 at his home. Born January 9, 1960 in Williamson, WV, he was the son of the late John Carl and Dollie Hensley Harrison.
He was a retired coal miner with 23 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors. He was of the Christian faith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 42 years, Verlie Young Harrison of Hatfield, KY, his children, Rellona Parsley (Joe McGuire) of Regina, KY, Johnny “JC” Harrison of Hardy, KY, and Travis & Tyler Harrison of Hatfield, KY, three brothers, Ralph (Barb) Harrison of Borderland, WV, Paul (Sandy) Harrison of Canada, KY, and Tony (Tonya) Harrison of Mt. Sterling, KY, two sisters, Hazel (Burton) Bevins of Rockhouse, KY and Hayley (Joey) Shannon of Turkey Creek, KY, his grandchildren, Trysten Parsley (Diba Bentley) and Randon Harrison, his great grandchildren, Kaiden McGuire and soon to arrive Baby Boy Parsley, special nieces, Marie, Hope, Kat, Olivia, and Melinda, special nephews, Billy Michael, Roger, Kenneth, Paul Daniel “Dig”, Little Tracy, Mason, Preston, and Little Denzil, favorite daughter-in-law, Kayla Harrison of Hardy, KY, very special sister-in-law, Mavis Carroll, very special brother-in-law, Jessie “Jet” Young, special family friend, Tim Epling, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church at Brushy, KY with Brett Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Wesley & AC Young Cemetery at Brushy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6:00 pm Thursday evening at the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church with special singing at 7:00 pm and anytime Friday with special services at 7:00 pm with Richard Staton, Andrew Walters, and Dewayne Smith officiating.
