Jonathan “Jake” Dotson, 32, of Ransom, KY passed away Wednesday; December 24, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born January 8, 1993 in South Williamson, KY, he was the son of Steven “Johnny” Dotson of Ransom, KY and Robin Adams of Tennessee. Through every trial Jonathan fought with strength, determination, and resilience, showing the toughness and perseverance that defined his life.
Jonathan was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting and fishing with his friends and family. Some of his favorite moments were spent outdoors, surrounded by those he loved most. He especially cherished time spent with his cousins, with whom he shared close bonds and lifelong memories.
Known for his kind heart and gentle spirit, Jonathan always tried to look out for others. He had a quiet way of caring for people and was willing to help whenever he could. Most importantly, Jonathan recently made the decision to give his life to the Lord. He was baptized in the Lord’s Church, where he became a member of the body of Christ and placing his membership at the mouth of Joe’s Creek Church of Christ – an act of obedience and devotion that brought salvation and peace only found in Christ.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marvin Dotson; his grandmother, Norma Dotson – who was like a mother to him; his cousin, Terri Zornes; his aunts, Jennifer Dotson, Betty Zornes, and Pricey Dotson; and his uncle, Ricky Dotson.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his sister, Kimberly; his uncles and aunts, Geroge and Pam Dotson, Don and Sherri Dotson, Sammy Dotson, Moncie Dotson, and Betty and Freddie Bowling; and many beloved cousins – among them is Mike Dotson – who was like a brother to him. He is also survived by cousins, James, Sara, Cassie, Haley, Amara, Alana, Derek, Brent, Kensley, Austin, Brandon, Paula, Roscoe, Daniel, Joseph, and Hannah, along with many other extended family members and friends who loved him dearly including a special friend, Perry Hatfield.
Graveside services will be held Saturday; December 27, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Dotson Family Cemetery at 653 Old House Branch; Ransom, KY 41558 with Mike Dotson and Dan Fraley officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Jonathan will be remembered for his strength, kindness, his love for family, and his faith. His life and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
