Joshua Allen Thomas, 18, of Dans Branch; Williamson, WV tragically passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle on US Highway 119. Born February 25, 2006 in Logan, WV, he was the son of Billy and April Runyon Thomas of Dans Branch, WV.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Rev. Freddie and Lois Runyon, maternal great grandparents, Rev. Haskell and Josephine Runyon, paternal great grandparents, Harold and Corina Marcum, and two uncles, Freddie Allen Runyon and Daniel Blevins.
Joshua was a student at Mingo Central High School where he was about to enter his senior year and be a part of the graduating class of 2025. He loved and was loved by all the staff and students. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He looked forward to family vacations each summer at East Lynn Lake. Joshua always wanted to be a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a member of the Chattaroy Gospel Revelation Tabernacle.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his sister, Rachell (Tyler) Anderson of Grassy, KY, his paternal grandparents, William and Connie Thomas of Lovely, KY, aunts, Freda (Willie) Spence and Heather Blevins, uncles, Josh (Amanda) Thomas and Tyler Hager, nieces and nephews, Maci, Rayden, and Blake, cousins, Matthew and Caitlyn Blevins and Kason Hager, special cousins, Kiarra Spence, Kaylea Spence, Bryson Marcum, and Sierra Marcum, special aunts, Diana Spence and Rosie (Scotty) Marcum, his mamaw in the church, Paula Messer, special grandmother, Virginia Dotson, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Chattaroy Gospel Revelation Tabernacle with Harrison Baisden and Roger Ooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Runyon Cemetery at Dans Branch with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 1:00 pm Friday at the Chattaroy Gospel Revelation Tabernacle with special services at 7:00 pm.
