Judy Lynn Preston

Judy Lynn Preston, 72, of Matewan, WV passed peacefully into Glory at her home on October 30, 2023 at 3:24 pm.  Judy was a loving wife and mother, who took her role as “mamaw” very seriously.  Her children and grandchildren were her entire world.  Judy loved music and to sing songs to her Savior, even traveling with gospel singing groups for years throughout the duration of her life.  Her love for singing has been passed on to her children and grandchildren.  Judy loved to spend time with her husband, David (and their dog Moses), going on many adventures together over the 30 beautiful years they spent together.  Judy was a beloved friend to many and a blessing to anyone who knew her.  She was feisty, sassy, and was never afraid to speak her mind or tell you the truth, but that was part of her charm.  To know Judy was to love her and the impact she had on the lives of everyone will never be forgotten.

Judy was born October 29, 1951 in Mingo County, WV, the daughter of the late James Black and the late Mary King Parsley.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers.

Judy worked as an office clerk for many years, lastly with Workman Enterprise, from which she retired, and she was a member of the Victory Christian Center at Lenore, WV. 

Survivors include her husband, David Preston of Matewan, WV, her children, Kim (Dale) Merritt of Ragland, WV, Garrett (Sarah) Workman of Bellefontaine, OH, and Benji (Trina) Workman of Delbarton, WV, her grandchildren, Isaac Merritt, Sarah Merritt, Lorelei Merritt, Naam Merritt, Joel Workman, Katie Workman, Madison Workman, Susanna Workman, Ron (Roxie) Lovins, and Kami Grace Lovins, 1 brother, Jimmy Black of Williamson, WV, her sisters-in-law, Sandy (Dan) Varner of Matewan, WV and Rhonda (Roger) Hall of Delbarton, WV, her brother-in-law, Mike (Jill) Preston of Matewan, WV, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services to honor and celebrate her life will be held Friday, November 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Victory Christian Center at Lenore, WV with Pastor Terry Blankenship officiating. 

The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 pm Friday at the church.
