Lewis Edward Montgomery, 83, of Martin County, KY passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born April 9, 1937 at Pilgrim, KY, he was the son of the late Dee and Ada Brewer Montgomery.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Curtis Edward Montgomery, and sisters, Rena Calhoun, Vickie Montgomery, Francis Morris, and Clara Patrick.
Ed was a retired coal miner having worked for 37 years. He was a member of the Buck Branch United Baptist Church.
Survivors include his dedicated wife and caregiver, Rita Runyon Montgomery of Martin County, KY, his son, Keith Edward (Carrie) Montgomery of Louisa, KY, three brothers, James (Sheila) Montgomery of Hatfield, KY, Carl Montgomery of Tennessee, and William (Jennifer) Montgomery of Texas, two sisters, Earyetta Gillman of Martin County, KY and Joyce Gauze of North Carolina, two grandsons, Kasey and Chayce Montgomery, a special dear brother-in-law Oscar Calhoun, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at 12:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Buddy Stacy, Dabo Stacy, and Harrison Baisden officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens at Louisa, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Due to the COVID19 health situation, all attendees must wear a mask or facial covering and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
