Margie Marie Damron, age 71, passed from this life on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Phelps, KY after an extended illness. Margie was born on January 21, 1950 in Chattaroy, WV and grew up in Ragland, WV. She was a 1967 graduate of Burch High School. Shew as a nurse by profession, earning her LPN license from the Ralph R. Willis Vocational Center, her associates degree in applied science and nursing from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College, and later a bachelor’s degree from Marshall University. She worked for many years as Assistant Director of Nursing at Mingo Manor Nursing Home (Trinity Healthcare), as well as House Supervisor at the Tug Valley ARH before retiring. Margie provided more than 30 years of love and care to her patients.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Dorothy (Stanley) Thompson; her husband, Jimmie Maynard; and one sister, Wilma Gaye Wallace of Newton, Kansas.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer (Brent) Slone of Forest Hills, KY; granddaughter, Shelby Ann Honaker of Forest Hills, KY; step-grandson, Lucas Jackson Slone of Brushy, KY; three sisters, Pamela (Joseph) Sowder of Beaver Creek, OH, Ella Grace Wilcox of Beaver Creek, OH, and Deborah Van Hoy of Riverside, OH; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at the East Point Fellowship Church at Aflex, KY with Pastor James Justice officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be after 6:00 pm Tuesday evening at the East Point Fellowship Church.
