Mary Jane (Brown) Walters

Mary Jane Walters, 73, of Dix Fork; Sidney, KY passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at her home.  Born December 30, 1948 in Pike County, KY, she was the daughter of the late George Brown and the late Audrey Shreves Brown.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Scotty Walters, one sister, Nancy Thacker, and two brothers, George Thomas Brown and Johnny Brown.

Mary was a homemaker and formerly worked for the telephone company in Pikeville, KY and also in the medical records department at the old Pikeville Methodist Hospital when it was located on the hill.   She last worked for Coverall Cleaners.  She was a member of the Dix Fork Old Regular Baptist Church for approximately 50 years.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Phillip Walters of Dix Fork, two sisters, Ina (Jimmy Lee) Smith of Phelps, KY and Mable (Pelmar) Stevens of Floyd County, KY, one brother, Stoney (Eleanor) Brown of Sidney, KY, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Elders of the Old Regular Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will follow in the Stanley Cemetery at Dix Fork; Sidney, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Saturday evening at the funeral home with services at 7:00 pm.
