Mary Rose Ailiff Obituary

Mary Rose Ailiff, 92, of South Williamson, KY passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Abingdon, VA.  Born April 17, 1928 in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John and Erna (Burgess) Ramos.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill R. Ailiff, son, William Michael Ailiff, sister, Mildred (Jim) Bero, and brothers, Jack Ramos and John Ramos.

Mary Rose was a graduate of Belfry High School and a resident of South Williamson, KY for 60 years.  She worked at Strosnider Drug Company for 40 years.  She was the office manager when she retired, but was also known for helping wherever needed during the busy hours - from assisting customers and the pharmacist, as that was how she began her career at Strosnider’s.  She liked working there and even through her years of dementia, during her more lucid moments, she would mention how much she enjoyed her time there even with the constant juggle of home, family, and a job.  She was a pioneer for women even then!

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon R. Stallard and son-in-law Butch Stallard, grandson, Shane Stallard and his wife Emily all of Abingdon, VA, daughter-in-law, Gerri Ailiff of Paintsville, KY, sister-in-law, Peggy Cardea of Huntington, WV, and several special nieces and nephews.  Much thanks also to Ruby Hubbard, a dear friend and helper who made it possible for Mary Rose to remain in her own home for as many years as possible.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 2:30 pm at the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with Bro. Larry Hubbard officiating with burial to follow.

The family will receive friends for a short period of visitation beginning at 1:30 pm Sunday at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY.
