Mary Vivian "Vee" (Harris) Jude

Mary Vivian “Vee” Jude, 94, of Williamson, WV and former longtime resident of Thacker, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 29, 2022 from the Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, KY.  Born October 27, 1927 in Mingo County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Maudie Estep Harris. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband and soulmate of 73 years John Jude, and a granddaughter, Delina Rose Jude, and a son in love, Mack Kenna Cisco. 

Vee was a retired head start aide and teacher for the Mingo County EOC, former postmaster at #2 Thacker post office, and former assistant postmaster alongside John at Thacker, WV.  She and her husband traveled to all 48 of the continental United States over the years.  Vee loved going to the beach and she was the #1 fan of the Matewan Tigers where she and John were fixtures at home games and most away games as well.  Vee never met a stranger.  She loved to talk and reminisce and often talked about going to her Granny Estep’s farm in Kentucky.  She was a member of the Enon United Baptist Church at Blackberry City, WV. 

Survivors include her children, Rodney (Annette) Jude of Williamson, WV, Danny (Norma) Jude of Winchester, KY, John D. (Rachel) Jude of Centerville, TN, and Bonnie Lou and her son Tracy Dotson of Kimper, KY, one sister, Joyce Jessee of Blackberry City, WV, 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren of which she held a special place in her heart for her great-grandson Aaron, 4 great-great-grandchildren, a son in love, David Cisco of Pinsonfork, KY, and host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 12:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Elder Jerry McCoy officiating.  Burial will follow in the Harris Cemetery at #11 Hollow at Thacker, WV with family and friends serving as pallbearers. 

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
