Nadine Snell, 78, of Thacker, WV passed away Saturday; April 18, 2026 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Born July 10, 1947 in Freeburn, KY, she was the daughter of the late Rosario Amato and Naomi Cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Ralph Cook Sr.; her husband, James “Jimmy” Snell; two sons, Randy Browning and Billy Browning; a brother, Ralph Cook Jr., and a sister, Lorine Thomas.
Nadine retired from the Mingo County Board of Education after many years as a cook at Matewan Grade School. A dedicated homemaker, she loved to cook, share recipes, feed people, and talk about the Lord. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie (Janine) Browning of Byron, IL; a sister, Darlene Snell of Thacker, WV; her grandchildren, Anthony Browning, Allie Browning, Tyler Gooslin, and Jacob Mohnacky; and a great-grandchild, Bentley Lopez.
A graveside committal service will be held Thursday; April 23, 2026 at 12:00 pm at the Varney Cemetery at Lynn, WV.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
