Pamela Yvonne (Mounts) Prater

Pamela Yvonne Prater, 78, of Rawl, WV passed away Monday; December 1, 2025 at her home.  Born January 16, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Sanford and Gertrude Hinkle Mounts.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas MacArthur Prater; and her siblings, Russell Mounts, Tunis Mounts, Ronald Mounts, Sanford Mounts Jr., Ethel Ball, Thelma Dillon, Phyllis Artrip, Ernestine Butcher, and Katherine Evans.

Pamela was a homemaker and enjoyed watching tv and spending time with her family and her pets.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael (Lisa) Prater of El Paso, TX, Yvonne (Dale) Long of Red Jacket, WV, Barbara (Paul) Howard of Salyersville, KY, Kathy (David) Varney of Turkey Creek, KY, Kelly Prater of Rawl, WV, and Lisa Belcher of Varney, WV.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Krystin Castle, Katrina Curry, Corey Prater, Brittany Morales, Jeremy Varney, Savannah Varney, Jacob Varney, Alexandria Long, Dustin Howard, and Kylie Arnett; her great grandchildren, Emery Castle, Emma Prater, Jaycee Prater, Adalyn Prater, McKenzie Morales, David Morales Jr., Payton Curry, Shaun Tristen Curry, Erin Arnett, Riley Arnett, Peyton Howard, Finn Howard, Jayden Varney, Stella Varney, and Khloe Varney, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

In honoring Pamela's wishes, cremation has taken place.  She will be placed to rest with her mother and father in a private service to be held by the family.
