Ruth Ann (Moore) Vernatter

Ruth Ann (Moore) Vernatter, 83, of Williamson, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, KY.  Born May 29, 1938 in Williamson, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur Moore and Susie Crigger Moore. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Eugene Vernatter, 2 brothers, Arthur Arnold Moore and Howard Edward Moore, and 4 sisters, Beatrice Haberle, Pauline Ramey, Connie Sanders, and Irene Freeman. 

Ruth attended Williamson High School and graduated in 1956.  She worked at Tug River Wholesale Grocery for 10 years then for 25 years at The National Bank of Commerce until retirement.  She was a member of the Williamson First Baptist Church, where while attending, she served on the kitchen committee which she loved. 

Survivors include 3 nephews and 1 niece that she dearly loved, John Clifford (Ramona) Freeman, Roger Neil (Dottie) Freeman, Rick (Debbie) Sanders, and Susan Elaine Freeman (Greg Stallard).  Also surviving are her great-nieces, Dr. Kristin (Nick) Freeman, Elizabeth (Jason) Guthrie, Samantha (Chuck) Knoppe, and Allison (Macky) Francis, her great-nephews, Jonathan Freeman and Douglas Sanders, her great-great-nieces and nephews, MacKenzie, Charlotte “Charlie”, Finn, Isaac, Cade, Zaiden, Knox, Lily, Cole, Riley, Carter, Brian, and Jackson, a host of other family members and friends, and her dog, Savannah, that she loved dearly. 

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel at Toler, KY with Rev. Jarrod Belcher officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with family and friends serving as pallbearers. 

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home.
