Sandra Kaye "Sandy" Ward Obituary

Sandra Kaye Ward, lovingly known as “Sandy”, 81, of Huntington, WV went to be with the Lord on Wednesday; July 1, 2026 at 6:25 pm.  Sandy was born in Patterson, VA, in Buchanan County, and spent most of her adult life in Williamson, WV, before moving to Huntington, where she lived for the last five years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tempia and Jason Rash; her husband, Ralph Ward; her son, Brandon Ward; and her granddaughter, Madison Ward.

She is survived by her loving children, Dustin Ward and Jacinda Ward, as well as Darlene Ward whom she loved as a daughter; her grandchildren, Makenzie Ward, Zachary Runyon and fiancée Dali Oliver, Kendall Ward, Easton Baisden, Sarah Ward, and Joshua Ward; her great-grandchildren, Dalin Runyon and Calum Runyon; her beloved brother and best friend, Gary Rash; her son-in-law, Lonnie Baisden; and many nieces and nephews, Amy and Erik Rash, Angie and Derek Rash, Katrina and Jason Evans, and Dedra Rash; extended family members, and dear friends who loved her deeply.

Sandy never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome, loved, and cared for.  She devoted her entire life to her family and sacrificed everything to make sure her children and grandchildren were always taken care of.  She loved the Lord with all her heart, was a devout Christian, and faithfully served in ministry alongside her late husband, Pastor Ralph Ward, traveling to churches to spread the word of God and worship.  She was also a member of the choir and found great joy in music.  Sandy formerly worked for KMart and later she worked and retired as a Ward Clerk for the Williamson Memorial Hospital.

Although Sandy had struggled with her health since 2022, she was one of the most resilient women, and she never complained, even in her hardest moments.  She kept her sense of humor and her faith and continued to make others smile.  She loved to read, especially Danielle Steel novels, and enjoyed watching Korean television shows.  She loved joking with her nurses and would brighten every room she entered.  Sandy was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend and she will be remembered for her faith, strength, kindness, humor, selflessness, resiliency, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.

Family and friends will gather for a memorial service and a time of remembrance Thursday; July 9, 2026 from 6-8 pm at the Chattaroy Church of God in Chattaroy, WV.  Sandra will be laid to rest in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, KY with her beloved family.
