Sidney Chapman Jr., 83, of Freeburn, KY went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 10, 2024 from the Pikeville Medical Center. Born August 19, 1941 in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late Sidney Chapman Sr. and the late Georgia Johnson Chapman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 30 years, Bonnie Dale Chapman, a daughter, Sabrina Chapman, 2 grandsons, Joshua Steven Turner and Cody Sincell, and 8 siblings, Jack Chapman, Missouri Smith, Maxine Hernandez, Lana Kays, John Chapman, Sandra Gail Chapman, Allene Koloff, and Venie Rayburn.
Sidney was a proud Veteran having served and retired from the U.S. Army. In his civilian life, he worked in maintenance and retired from Logan-Mingo Mental Health. He was of the Church of God faith.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Georgzella Chapman Sincell, Betty (James) Reese, and Rhonda (Dennis) Peterson, son, Terry Chapman, stepdaughter, Trina Smith, step children, Robert and wife Grace Carrillo, Marselena and husband Herschel Thach, and Angela and husband John Russell, his siblings, Grant Lee (Kim) Chapman, Priscilla (Gene) Peterson, Allen (Zina) Chapman, and Charlotte Flippo,, his grandchildren, Robert and wife Kara Carrillo, Gabriel and wife Brooke Carrillo, Nicholas and wife Shayla Carrillo, Joseph Aaron Turner, Jeremy Turner, Victoria and husband Jeff Queary, John and wife Tiffany Russell, Sierra Sincell, Heather Blankenship, Terrance Chapman, Sidney Chapman, Brad and wife Kenzie Smith, and Colby and wife Brittney Stump, his great grandchildren, Kayliana Carrillo, Zion Koa Carrillo, Kiara Carrillo, Alyxandra Carrillo, Adrienne Carrillo, Arrow Carrillo, Nicholas Judah Carrillo, Daniel Turner, Trey Shappley, Joshua Jacob Turner, Jeremiah Turner, Reagan Queary, Zayden Stump, Berkley Stump, Mackenzie Wolford Ratliff, and Paris Sincell. Also surviving is a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the Regional Church of God in Delbarton, WV with Pastor Mitchell Bias and Rev. Doug Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV with family serving as pallbearers and military honors presented by the DAV Chapter 141 of Belfry.
Visitation will be after 6:00 pm Monday at the Regional Church of God with services at 7:00 pm.
