Thomas Edward "Tom" Laney Obituary

Thomas Edward “Tom” Laney, 68, of Boonscamp, KY passed away on Tuesday; March 10, 2026 at the Pikeville Medical Center.  Born in Ohio, he was the son of the late Ed and Betty (Tolliver) Laney. 

A devoted husband, Tom shared 43 wonderful years alongside his beloved wife, Kathy Laney.  He loved the Lord, and his life was beautifully defined by his profound dedication to his family and his passion for horses.  Tom will be warmly remembered by all who knew him for his fantastic sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a funny story to bring a smile to those around him. 

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his three sons, Ronnie (Christy) Kennedy, Donnie Kennedy, and Robbie (Tiffany) Kennedy; and his siblings, Diana (Paul) Holt, Suzanne (Mike) Goble, John Michael (Romona) Laney, and Grady Lynn (Sandy) Tolliver, as well as his nieces and nephews.

Tomy’s legacy of love and laughter lives on through his cherished grandchildren; Ashley (Tyler) Kohari, Christopher “CJ” (Shae) Tate, Kaitlyn (Bradley) Kennedy, Justin (Hailey) Kennedy, Megan (Cameron) Kennedy, Casen Kennedy, Riley Kennedy, Maddie Beckett, and Kenna Beckett; as well as his great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Brooks, and Luka Kohari, and Laney, Waylon, and Walker Tate.  Also surviving is a host of friends.

In accordance with Tom’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services.  His family will host a celebration of his life at a later date to honor his memory and share the many stories he left behind.
