Tommy Wolford

Tommy Wolford, 78, of Ransom, KY passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his residence.  Tommy was born April 29, 1946 on Pounding Mill of Freeburn, KY to the late Roy and May (Daniels) Wolford. 

Besides his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Teresa (Adkins) Wolford, sisters, Ruby Woomer and Helen Prater, and brothers, Jim, Ron, Walt, Ermal, and Roy Jr. Wolford.

Tommy was a proud Army Specialist who served in the Vietnam War as part of the 282nd Assault Helicopter Company.  His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.  He was also an Army Rifle Sharpshooter.  He enjoyed playing rummy every evening with his sister and nephew. 

Tommy is survived by his daughters, Tonya (Mitchell) Smith and Michelle (Stephen) Pigman of Ransom, KY, his sister, Stella Miller of Ransom, KY, his brother, Johnny (Judy) Wolford of Saltville, VA, his grandchildren, Samantha (Josh) Gilman and Joey (Kayla) Hall of Ransom, KY, Kari (John) Smith of Winchester, KY, and Hannah (Conner Wright) Spence of Pikeville, KY, great grandchildren, Noah, Lilah, and Ella Gilman, Laina Stanley, Avery, Cooper, and Hudson Smith, Aerionna and Elijah Pigman, and a new grandchild to be born in the spring.  Tommy leaves behind many in laws whom he thought of as brothers and sisters, many nieces and nephews some whom he helped raise, and countless friends. 

Tommy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who had the best grin ever!  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 1:00 pm with his nephew, Evang. Ray Wolford officiating.  Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery at Ransom, KY with Mitchell Smith, Stephen Pigman, Joey Hall, Josh Gilman, John Smith, and Conner Wright serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Wolford, Hodge Miller, Noah Gilman, and Elijah Pigman. 

Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
