Walter (Dinkie) McCoy Jr.

Walter (Dinkie) McCoy Jr., 71, of Williamson, WV passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 4, 2021 surrounded by his family and friends.  Born June 3, 1949 in Williamson, WV, he was the son of the late Walter McCoy Sr. and Mabel (Birchfield) McCoy.  Although Walter was born and currently resided in West Virginia, he had resided in Kentucky for most of his life.

Walter was a former coal miner and was called into his preaching ministry in 1986.  During his time in the ministry he was called to Pastor several churches while living in the Berea and Mt. Vernon, KY areas.  He was known as an humble, loving man; but if you knew him, you know he was always joking and laughing, and he never met a stranger.

His devotion to his family and his faith in God remained strong as Walter endured a long hard illness.  He continued to pray and sing of God's love; a testimony that continued until his last breath.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Brenda J. (Maynard) McCoy; along with 3 children, Renee McCoy of Lexington, KY, Jimmy L. McCoy of Mt. Vernon, KY, and Ronnie L. Heaton of Ashland, KY.  Walter had 8 grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews, cousins, church family, and friends whom he loved and who loved and laughed with him through life's journey.

Due to the current Covid19 health situation, there will be no visitation or funeral services at this time.  A Celebration of Walter's Life and Memorial Service will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family and will be announced when scheduled.
